Painting Brass Fireplace Easily and Cheaply!

Hi Friends! Today I have a super easy and frugal way to update your fireplace.  If your house is a little older, I’m sure it shows how much brass was loved a few decades ago.

If you’re like me, you are not a fan of that brass anymore!  So instead of spending a bunch of money on replacing everything, just do my favorite thing, and paint it!

This is what our fireplace looked like before my painting brass fireplace makeover…

It’s not horrible, but it definitely didn’t go with the rest of my family room decor.  I was adding a lot more silver and gray into the room so the brass was sticking out.  Ready for this project that takes about 10  minutes??

All you need is some spray paint and contact paper!  Not just any paint but High Heat spray paint.  I got mine here (less than $4 on Amazon!)

I grabbed some contact paper from the Dollar Tree and got to work covering all the places I didn’t want the paint with the contact paper. (I would add more to the edges but since I was repainting the white I didn’t totally cover that part)painting brass fireplace

Then I started painting… just took a few minutes.

After it was dry, peel off all the contact paper, and ta da, you have a fresh looking fireplace!

Pretty easy, right???  Now the fireplace doesn’t stick out like a brass thumb!painting brass fireplace

This would be an easy solution for bathrooms too where there are brass trims around mirrors.  Luckily we don’t have that, but if we did, I would paint all of them!  I would love to see pictures if you update any of your brass!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!  If you’d like to save this tutorial for later, you can Pin it now if you’d like!
